Yuri Sablon

Yuri was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1965 and moved to the United States in the mid-1980s. Growing up and going to school in Havana, Yuri loved to build toys, and he built his own bike. He enjoyed swimming and scuba diving in the ocean, too. Yuri loved to climb mango trees and play baseball with his friends.
Yuri is married to Elizabeth Sablon and together they have 3 children: Juan Felipe Sablon, Lizbeth Marie Sablon, and Liliana Marcela Sablon. Currently, Yuri and Elizabeth own a business called Professional Painting which they established in 1999. He likes to do other kinds of work, including carpentry, plumbing, deck building, and electrical work. He loves to take his old Land Rover engine apart, repair it, and assemble it back together. Most of all, Yuri loves to help people in need using the gifts that God has given him.
Yuri became a Christian in 1991 when he met Elizabeth. He was baptized the day before he got married, and his first communion was the day of his marriage ceremony at church. Yuri heard of Intown through Interface Ministry and then began to attend International Friendship Community (IFC) He became a member of Intown in 2003 and became involved in a small group with Dan and Debbie Gyger. Yuri enjoys studying the Bible every morning before he goes to work, and enjoys praying with his family. He is currently part of the Welcome Team at Intown and has assisted as a cook, host, greeter, and teacher.
Yuri has a strong belief that God is calling him to be a deacon. God has given him a desire to serve others with his skills. He particularly likes to help widows, senior citizens, and others in need. Yuri is always eager to get involved in wherever is needed at Intown. He loves the Lord and loves to serve others.
