Suzanne Morris
(Deacon nominee)
As an adult, through the ministry of First Presbyterian Church in Augusta, I became a believer as I experienced the power of prayer, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and the assurance of salvation. Recognizing that my own efforts and good works can never outweigh the depth of my sin, I accept that Jesus’s sacrifice, death, and resurrection have sealed my fate. This knowledge provides me comfort and courage in this life and hope for the next. It is my desire to share the love that I have received with those around me. I pray that Jesus’s love and kindness will be reflected in my life so that others may know Him.
My husband, Larry, and I grew up here in Dekalb County and have been members of Intown for 27 years. I have served on the Intro to Intown Support Team, the Opening our Home Steering Committee, the Opening our Home Fundraising Committee, and as a Greeter on the Connection Team.
Our five children are grown and live throughout the country. As a Board member and volunteer nurse, I spend time each week at Ethne Health, a clinic providing healthcare to refugees and other members of the Clarkston community. As a semi-retired RN, I currently work part time in the Clinical Skills Center at Emory University School of Medicine assisting with simulated training experiences for medical students and residents.
With my parents deceased and my children grown, I am in a stage of life free of those immediate family obligations. I am eager to serve and support my Intown family. Believing that the gospel is communicated when we share the love we have received, I try to use the gifts God has given me of hospitality, welcome, and encouragement in my relationships at work, at church, and in my community. I believe that God has used my life experiences to prepare me for the role of Deacon to which He now calls me.
